Five Rivers MetroParks consists of 25 facilities, including 18 parks, 2nd Street Market, and potions of six paved recreation trails as well as 11 conservation areas. There are nine educational features, 40 natural features, eight outdoor recreation features and 160 miles of managed trails. Annually over 3.6 million guests visit Five Rivers MetroParks, which Dayton Business Journal lists as Dayton’s No. 1 most visited attractions. You can help support these important community assets and program through sponsorships.

Available Opportunities
The Adventure Summit
The Adventure Summit is a joint production of Five Rivers MetroParks and Wright State University. Through inspiring presentations, hands on skill building session and adventure competitions the summit showcases Dayton, Ohio as the “Outdoor Adventure Capital of the Midwest.” The event takes place every other year in February.
Make A Difference Day
Community members of all ages will work at various sites throughout the Dayton area. Make a Difference Day is considered the nation’s largest day of service. Make a Difference Day has been taking place for more than 20 years and has worked with millions of volunteers throughout the United States. Five Rivers MetroParks has participated in the program in various capacities during the past few years.
Adopt-A-Park
More than 2,000 Miami Valley residents will participate in Five Rivers MetroParks’ Earth Day celebration, Adopt-A-Park. Volunteers spend the morning in parks and other areas across Montgomery County followed by a free lunch at RiverScape MetroPark.
Explorer Program
The Explorer program is a career orientation and experience program for young people ages 14-20 who are interested in law enforcement careers or a related field. The program, operated by the Five Rivers MetroParks Ranger Department in cooperation with the Boy Scouts of America, promotes personal growth through character development, respect for the rule of law, physical fitness, good citizenship and patriotism.
Bike to Work Day presented by Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission
More than 750 cycling enthusiasts come together every May at RiverScape MetroPark for a free pancake breakfast and music at the region’s largest celebration of biking as a means of transportation in the Miami Valley!
Summer Music Series
The Summer Music Series takes place at RiverScape MetroPark. The series includes Pickin’ in the Park, R&B Hot Summer Music, Passport D8N and Big Band Nights. All performances take place on either Thursday or Friday evening May-August.
Summer Fitness at RiverScape
Fitness programs (yoga and Zumba) are held under the pavilion at RiverScape on Saturdays throughout the summer.
Youth and Family Healthy Foods Programming
Year-round family programs are held at Possum Creek Farm focusing on where food comes from, healthy eating and food preparation. The program uses fresh, local (sometimes organic) product.
Annual Volunteer Appreciation Events
Each year, we recognize and appreciate more than 600 MetroParks volunteers at an annual dinner at RiverScape MetroPark.
Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience
More than 19,500 visitors attend the Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience, the Midwest’s premiere festival celebrating the outdoor lifestyle. This two-day event, held in the fall, features outdoor activities, an exhibitor village, competitions, music, a craft beer garden, food, camping and activity demos; it offers something for everyone, from the budding weekend warrior to the hardcore outdoor enthusiast. Ice Rink at RiverScape MetroPark
Ice skating is a fun and exciting activity that the entire family can enjoy at the Ice Rink at RiverScape MetroPark. Every year, the rink draws more than 20,000 skaters who come out to enjoy it for personal pleasure, lessons, as part of a sports group, birthday parties and class trips. The ice rink is open November through February for great brand exposure.
