Financial assistance can be used for program & camp registrations, campsite & shelter rentals, and equipment rentals. Apply for financial assistance.


Five Rivers MetroParks is committed to providing quality parks, programs, and services to all residents of Montgomery County, regardless of their ability to pay. Five Rivers MetroParks developed the Access to Nature financial assistance program in conjunction with the Five Rivers MetroParks Foundation to provides residents up to a 75% discount based on financial need. Families can qualify for up to $500 per calendar year to help remove financial barriers of participating in programs, campsite rentals and shelter rentals.

To qualify, families must:

  • Live in Montgomery County
  • Meet household income guidelines (see table below)
  • Submit an application online or in writing along with the required documentation (W2s, paystubs, a copy of SNAP/EBT card)

Ways to Use Financial Assistance

Shelter Reservations

Open-air shelters make excellent settings for functions – from casual barbecues to weddings, from birthday parties to family reunions. Shelters are located in beautiful, natural settings and come with tables and mowed play areas. Some include electricity, water, grills and other amenities.

Campsite Reservations

With built-in activities such as fishing, paddling, hiking and backpacking, camping in your MetroParks offers a way to get away from it all just minutes from your door. Both frontcountry, backcountry and trailside tent camping sites are available.

Program Registrations

Try paddling, mountain biking, fishing and more. Learn from our experts, start a new hobby or expand an existing one.

Equipment Rentals

Five Rivers MetroParks now provides recreation equipment for community use via weekend rentals. These equipment sets are a great way to:

  • try something new before purchasing equipment
  • access high quality equipment for a fraction of the cost
  • eliminate obstacles for planning your next outdoor activity

Sets are available to reserve in advance and pick up for a weekend of adventure.

MetroParks Ice Rink

Access to Nature recipients receive discounted admission to the MetroParks Ice Rink. The ice rink is located within RiverScape MetroPark and features sweeping views of both the Great Miami River and the downtown Dayton skyline. Ice skating is a great way to experience the outdoors during the cooler weather and provides a winter tradition for families.

No application is needed to receive this discount. Simply Show your SNAP/EBT card at the time of payment.
