RiverScape MetroPark
MetroParks Ice Rink
Get out and skate on the region's largest outdoor ice rink!
2024 – 25 Ice Rink Season Schedule | Café hours are same as open skate unless noted below
Whether you’re a skating rookie or have been lacing up your skates for decades, and whether you’re looking for a leisurely afternoon with the family or a competitive night on the ice, there is a full slate of activities to choose from at the MetroParks Ice Rink. The ice rink is located within RiverScape MetroPark and features sweeping views of both the Great Miami River and the downtown Dayton skyline. It measures 70 feet by 150 feet and is sheltered under a pavilion. The rink has something for everyone: beginners’ lessons, open skating, broomball and curling, not to mention hot chocolate and music. Ice skating is a great way to experience the outdoors during the cooler weather and provides a winter tradition for Miami Valley families looking for something fun to do together.
Plan ahead
Stay Warm
Warm up in the Comfort Tent, located near the Café at the MetroParks Ice Rink. This insulated tent features festive lighting, family-style seating options and is kept at 70 degrees to help provide comfort on even the coldest and windiest of days.
You can warm up at the MSD Warming Zone as you wait to pick up your skates or in between figure 8s on the MetroParks Ice Rink.
Season Passes and Gift Certificates
Give the gift of ice skating this year with a MetroParks Ice Rink gift certificate or season pass. Season passes are $40 for individuals and $120 for families of up to five (includes ice skate rentals) and can be purchased online – and if you order before opening day, you’ll receive a 20% discount! Gift certificates are available in any dollar amount only at the rink rental window.
Reduced admission and skate rentals are available for those who utilize SNAP/EBT benefits. Customers just need to present their SNAP/EBT card to receive a 50% discount, which is $3.50 admission and $1.50 skate rental. Reduced admission is available thanks to the Five Rivers MetroParks Foundation’s Access to Nature financial assistance program.

Broomball
Broomball is a team sport in which players wear shoes rather than skates and use a “broom” (a stick shaped like a broom) to move the ball around the ice and score goals. Rules and strategies are similar to those of ice hockey. The league is organized by the Dayton Broomball Association. Visit the Dayton Broomball Association Facebook page to learn more and register a team.
Curling
Want to play an Olympic sport? Grab some friends and sign up for the curling league! This team sport involves sliding heavy, granite stones across the ice toward a marked target while your teammates sweep the ice with brooms to alter its path. Curling is accessible to all physical skill levels and no experience is required. The curling league is organized by Curl Troy. Visit the Curl Troy website to learn more and to register your team.
Food and Beverages
While the rink is open, you can enjoy delicious treats from the concession area.
