RiverScape: Last call for community fitness, Make a Difference Day and Ice Rink opening

Thank You Visitors!

Whether you paddled under the Fountain of Lights along the Great Miami River, attended an event or festival, or simply enjoyed a stroll along the river, the RiverScape team wants to say thank you for another successful event season! We would also like to give many thanks to RiverScape Summer Music Series presenting sponsor, Enterprise Roofing, Fitness in the Park sponsors, Kettering Health and McGohan Brabender, and Passport to MetroParks sponsors, Huffy and Code Credit Union, for their support of RiverScape programs this summer.

There are still some Community Fitness sessions in store, so be sure to squeeze in a class while you can. Come down for a boot-camp style workout with The Unit: Mondays & Wednesdays through Oct. 30 from 6 – 7:30 p.m.

MetroParks Ice Rink Opening Friday, Nov. 24

The temperatures are slowly dropping, which means we are sharpening some ice skates and preparing to build the region’s largest outdoor ice rink for the 2023-2024 winter season. To ensure you do not miss any announcements, including updates about private rentals, season passes, new theme nights and more, be sure to follow our Facebook page. The MetroParks Ice Rink will be open daily through March 1, 2024, weather permitting.

Make a Difference Day

Make a Difference Day returns on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon – and we could use your help. Many volunteers of all ages and abilities have already signed up to assist staff at various sites throughout Five Rivers MetroParks to help us clean up the parks, support habitat restoration efforts and prepare for the winter season. Plenty of opportunities are still available at RiverScape MetroPark and at your other favorite MetroParks. To view current openings, check out our Get Connected page. Make a Difference Day is presented by CenterPoint Energy Foundation with additional support provided by, CareSource FoundationMontgomery County Environmental ServicesKeep Montgomery County Beautiful,  Serve Ohio and QEI Engineers Inc.

Visit Our Friends at 2nd Street Market

The 2nd Street Market has you covered for all things fall during the month of October. On top of trying delicious food, shopping and a variety of live music – there are lots of activities on the schedule, such as pumpkin decorating and trick-or-treating the whole family will love. Plus, the outdoor market runs through the end of October, so be sure to come support local growers and vendors while you can.

Programs and events at the 2nd Street Market are sponsored by Dayton Children’s. Visit the 2nd Street Market page for upcoming programs and events.

We are stoked to collaborate with a variety of 2nd Street Market vendors again this winter for the return of the Holiday Mini Market, located in the Comfort Tent at the MetroParks Ice Rink on the first three Saturday evenings in December from 4 to 8 p.m. You can pop in during your ice-skating session to warm up and explore a variety of 2nd Street Market artisan vendors and find unique gifts for friends and family. Participating vendors will be announced prior to each date via the RiverScape Facebook page.
