Shop Local Produce, Diversity, and Father’s Day at the 2nd Street Market

Fresh produce highlights at the Outdoor Market

The growing season is underway with local farmers bringing an array of early summer produce throughout the month of June. Rhubarb, strawberries, and green onions are coming in from Garber Farm.  Spinach, garlic, and snap peas from Pay it Forward Farms CSA will be stocked with collard and turnip greens, lettuce mixes, herbs and cut flowers. Gypsy Chicks Farm is predicting snap peas, strawberries, green beans, and new potatoes. Harry’s Ole’d Country Orchard and Produce arrives weekly in June with kale, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and beets. Corner Hill Farms will have raspberries, green beans, zucchini, and specialty tomatoes as well. Many of the outdoor market farmers continue to stock flowering hanging baskets, vegetable bedding plants and herbs. The outdoor farmers market is open Saturdays, 9 AM to 3 PM and Sundays, 11 AM to 3 PM. Check the Market’s Facebook page for outdoor vendor updates.

Pride is at the Market

As a part of Pride month, the 2nd Street Market is highlighting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) with LBGTQ+ and allied vendors, community organizations and musicians in June. Five Rivers Metroparks will be at the Market June 4 to offer the public information about our DEI strategic plan initiatives. Saturday, June 24, the Dayton Metro Library will participate in Pride at the Market, highlighting for the community their DEI initiatives. Hearthstone Psychology, a private practice mental health agency with locations in Dayton and Kettering that focuses on supporting the LGBTQ+ community as well as the community at large, will be here June 17 and June 25.

Market vendors, Wenches of Wormwood, are showing their support through their business’s local fundraising product Philanthrotea.  These specialty blends are unique, limited, and numbered batches of herbal teas with all proceeds going to a local non-profit organization chosen annually. This year’s “Uniteablend supports the non-profit organization Dykes of Dayton. Be sure to stop by their booth during regular Market hours and buy local to support local.

Celebrate Father’s Day at the Market

There are so many ways to show your appreciation for the father or father figure in your life here at the 2nd Street Market. Keepsakes & remembrances, wellness & self-care, and outdoor adventure gear along with a Sunday brunch date with one of the Market’s talented prepared food vendors make the Market the perfect place to celebrate Dad!
