This weekend is the perfect time to rediscover your favorite happenings in downtown Dayton. Visit RiverScape MetroPark and the 2nd Street Market for food, entertainment and more this Friday and Saturday. Here’s what’s in store:

FRIDAY, AUG. 6

Art in the City Preview

Join MetroParks and downtown Dayton’s other business, organizations and arts venues for Art in the City Friday and Saturday, Aug. 6 & 7.

As a part of the Friday, Aug. 6, Art in the City preview night, RiverScape MetroPark will host live bluegrass during Pickin’ in the Park, in addition to a live screening of the first two episodes of Decoding Nature. MetroParks’ live animal ambassadors will be on site from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Guests will be offered an opportunity to draw the animal ambassadors with art supplies provided by MetroParks. See info below on how to keep the creativity going on Saturday at the Market.

Decoding Nature Screening

Due to inclement weather, last week’s Decoding Nature screening was rescheduled to this Friday, Aug. 6 during Pickin’ in the Park. The screening of the first two episodes of Decoding Nature begin at 9:35 p.m. Please remember to bring a lawn chair.

Pickin’ in the Park

Join us under the RiverScape pavilion from 6 to 10 p.m. for an evening of free live music featuring original progressive bluegrass music from Joe’s Truck Stop and Barbaro. Food trucks will be on site with craft beverages provided by A Special Wish Foundation.

SATURDAY, AUG. 7

Art in the City

On Saturday, Aug. 7, those who created a drawing on Friday evening and wish to submit their masterpiece can do so at the 2nd Street Market from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who submit their drawings will have a chance to win a prize from the Market.

Additionally, RiverScape MetroPark’s most recent muralist, Gae Helton, will be at the Market hosting a live painting demonstration from 10 a.m. to noon.

2nd Street Market

Shop your indoor and outdoor favorites at the 2nd Street Market from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Grab farm-fresh produce, flowers, meats, kitchen staples and more. You also can grab a bite to eat from one of the prepared food vendors or shop for one-of-a-kind artisan goods.

Yoga in the Park

Join us under the pavilion this Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. for the season’s final Yoga in the Park. Speakeasy Yoga will be leading a free all-levels Vinyasa practice. We’re excited to flow with you one last time this summer!
