Native Christmas Tree Sale: Rentable, Potted and Native Wreaths and Bough, Dec. 17 from 11 AM to 3 PM

Love the idea of a live potted tree but don’t have space outside to plant your tree? Rent a tree with Deeply Rooted Landscapes. Your tree will hang with you for the holidays and then return to the nursery. Your tree buddy may be a holiday tree again or end up in the yard of someone in the community. The tree is still living and a sustainable, zero-waste holiday option. Perfect for apartment dwellers and renters!

Deeply Rooted Landscapes will be at the 2nd Street Market renting and selling live Christmas trees in 3-gallon pots. The trees are approximately 2 to 3 feet tall. Prices start at $50. Species available will include Eastern Red Cedar, Jack Pine and Eastern White Pine.

In addition to Christmas Trees, Deeply Rooted Landscapes returns this year with beautiful winter holiday wreaths from fresh-cut evergreen boughs. They are handcrafted, sustainably sourced from local materials, highlighting the beauty of our fabulous Ohio native plants. Once you are done enjoying this wreath, you can save it for next year or toss it in your garden to biodegrade.

If you are renting a tree, you will pay the total amount. You must return the tree to 2nd Street Market on Friday, Dec. 30, or Saturday, Dec. 31 during Market hours. If DRL determines the tree to be healthy, half of the paid amount will be returned to you.

Vendor Highlight: Crêpe Bohème

December 2023 marks Crêpe Bohème’s 17th anniversary, the Market’s oldest original food vendor.

Sabine Grand, owner and operator, is a native of France. At age 23, she decided to put her master’s degree on hold to pursue her life-long dream: traveling and backpacking in North America. Her journey started in Montreal, on to Vancouver and from there to San Fransisco. Falling in love with the Bay Area, over the next eight years she worked there in the design industry and cruised the west coast on motorcycles.

In 2004, Sabine moved to Dayton, Ohio where she was inspired to stay and do something new. “I always loved making crêpes; it is part of my roots. It is both an art, and a show; something that brings people together in joy and laughter. I love the creative freedom of coming up with any sort of interesting combination of ingredients. So, I thought, why not?”

In 2006, Sabine hit the road with her crêpe cart in tow. “It was the very beginning of the food truck trend, so in that respect, it was a good time to start. Street fairs, Wine festivals, Art shows, the crêpe cart was always a big hit. But the season was waning, and I had to find an indoor spot for the winter.”

That December, Crêpe Bohème moved into the 2nd Street Market as a permanent vendor. Sabine reflects on her tenure, “Seventeen years, a cycle of cicadas; what a journey it has been, and a pleasure and an honor to serve this great community. I could not have done it alone, so I want to take this opportunity to thank my many hard working and high-spirited associates who have walked the crêpe way along with me. Much gratitude as well to our thousands of customers whose loyalty has given so much more meaning to this endeavor. Thank you all! And have a Crêpe Day!”

Be sure to stop by, order a delicious crêpe and watch the show as Crêpe Bohème celebrates its seventeenth anniversary at the 2nd Street Market.
