ParkWays
Five Rivers MetroParks' magazine is aimed at keeping you and your family informed of all the great activities and programs at each of the MetroParks. It also includes news, park features and articles on different topics in conservation, wellness and the quality of life in the Miami Valley.

ParkWays is now quarterly! In an effort to reduce costs and conserve paper, Five Rivers MetroParks will be changing the number of issues of ParkWays from 6 issues a year to 4 issues a year. Issues include Spring (arrives mid-February), Summer (arrives mid-May), Fall (arrives mid-August), and Winter (arrives mid-November).

ParkWays in your mailbox! Starting with our Jan.-Feb, 2009 issue (arrives mid-December), this one-stop resource for new experiences, new adventures and new ways to connect with our community will be delivered to Montgomery County residents free of charge.

Residents may subscribe to ParkWays if they wish to receive additional copies. Persons living outside the county may subscribe to ParkWays, pick up a copy of ParkWays at any MetroPark, or download a copy.

Due to these changes, ParkWays will no longer be available in stores, restaurants, coffee houses, hotels, and schools in the Dayton Area. View a list of locations within Five Rivers MetroParks where you may continue to pick up copies of ParkWays.

THE HUB BUB

What’s the buzz about the new RiverScape MetroPark Bike Hub? Check out what local cyclists are saying about this new amenity that promotes healthy, active lifestyles:

Warren Gardner, Workflow One: “I am full of energy when I [bike] to work. I am pleased with the whole idea of seeing more people on bicycles. ‘When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race’ – British author H. G. Wells.”

Edward “Ned” Pennock, CH2M Hill: “Bike commuting is a win-win-win.  I save money on gas and parking; it’s a great way to get some exercise, stay fit, and reduce stress; and it’s a much more sustainable and environmentally friendly way to get around. I’m excited about the amenities the new Bike Hub will offer; however, even more exciting to me is how much the new Bike Hub symbolizes the growing trend towards being a more sustainable community. The new hub will definitely have an influence on how I ride to work.”

Mary Ann Faulkner: “[When I bike,] I feel free, like a kid again. The morning commute starts me off in a better mood that lasts throughout the day and the ride home helps me unwind after a long day at work. I am excited about the Bike Hub opening because it will make it easier for more cyclists to bike to work. I like the camaraderie.”
