Five Rivers MetroParks was established in 1963 to preserve and protect open space and natural areas for the citizens of Montgomery County. Today over 15,000 acres of forests, grasslands, farmlands and wetlands have been protected.

Supported by funding from the park levy and grants, Five Rivers MetroParks is able to continue conservation efforts to preserve high quality natural areas for today’s residents and future generations.

Our History
On April 8, 1963, Neal F. Zimmers, judge of the Montgomery County Probate Court, signed and sealed the documents creating the Montgomery County Park District, now known as Five Rivers MetroParks. Several events and the efforts of many people led up to this historic action.

Our Mission
Five Rivers MetroParks is dedicated to protecting Greater Dayton’s natural heritage and to providing outdoor recreation and education experiences that inspire a lasting personal connection with nature.
