New Vendors and Black History Month at the Market

Black History Month Celebrations at the Market

The 2nd Street Market, a Five Rivers MetroParks location, has celebrated Black History Month for many years. The Market is hosting programs with a focus on celebrating and supporting Black members of our community, including small business owners, artists, creatives and more. All programs are free and suitable for all ages.

The full-time Black-owned small businesses at the Market include:

Dohner Maple Products Celebrates 42 Years

Dohner Maple Products founder Dean Dohner began their long relationship with Five Rivers MetroParks selling products 37 years ago at Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark, joining the 2nd Street Market after it opened. When Dean retired in 2018, siblings Stan Dohner and Sarah Niswonger took over the business. Since 2018, Dohner Maple Products have expanded their product lines, opened a retail store in Vandalia and launched their website to accept online orders. To celebrate their anniversary with you, during the month of February, customers can enjoy sweet savings of $5 when purchasing $42 or more online, or in person at any event or location where Dohner Maple Products are sold. Congratulations Dohner Maple Products for their 42 years in business!

New Vendor Spotlight

The Market is pleased to introduce several new permanent vendors starting this winter. Now open, you can shop with these fine establishments year-round at the 2nd Street Market. Stay tuned next month when we announce three more new vendors.

Burnt Out Winery

Burnt Out Winery is a family-run small-batch winery. Their name originated from a conversation they had about being burnt out at their jobs and from that, they made the decision to establish a winery. Their wines are uniquely named after occupations, and accompanied by humorous descriptions explaining why someone might be burnt out in that field. Burnt Out Winery specializes in producing high-quality wines that are easy to drink, crafted in small batches, using all-natural ingredients, and selling them at affordable prices.

Sweet Emmy Herbals

Sweet Emmy Herbals is a small herbal farm and apiary. Joining the 2nd Street Market in 2024, they have since moved into a larger space allowing them to offer expanded recipes, herbs and hard to procure imports, with a healthy living area featuring their favorite supplements and healthy snacks. Sweet Emmy Herbals offer sustainably grown and responsibly foraged herbs, teas and honey products with no added flavorings or colors.

Hive Products

Hive Products is a local Greene County honey producer that practices sustainable beekeeping and supplies related apiary products. Owner Tracy Scott has been a beekeeper for 30 years, learning the trade from his uncle and grandfather, collecting and bottling his own honey. His hives collect honey from fruit trees, locust, catalpa trees, honeysuckle and autumn olive to name a few of the trees and shrubs. He has both spring and summer honey in stock. Adding to his own honey stock, this spring Tracy will be introducing honey from different parts of the country as well. This honey will seasonal based on what’s in bloom. They all have a slightly different flavor, such as honey from tupelo trees in the southeast or sourwood honey from higher elevation trees in Appalachian states.
