Join us for Apple Day at the 2nd Street Market

Heads up! This article was published 2 years ago.

Celebrate the beginning of fall by enjoying Apple Day at the 2nd Street Market. The apple, one of the most fall-centric crops, is responsible for such autumnal staples as cider, apple pie, crepes and caramel apples. Downtown Dayton’s 2nd Street Market is dedicating an entire day to the apple.

A full schedule of the day’s event is below.

This free, all-ages event takes place Sunday, Sept.  18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 2nd Street Market, 600 E. Second St.

The Market has free, ADA-accessible parking nearby, with overflow parking in a nearby lot at The Steam Plant, 617 E. Third St.

The event will feature “Johnny Appleseed,” the famed historical tall-tale figure based on real-life John Chapman, an early conservationist, American pioneer and nurseryman who spread apple crops throughout the northern parts of the Ohio Valley in the late 18th and 19th centuries. The event’s faux-fable will be walking the Market from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. passing out free apples, much like the myth-based version of him did centuries ago.
