Friday lunch hour programs at the 2nd Street Market
The 2nd Street Market regularly hosts a variety of fun and informative series during the Friday lunch hour. Join us each Friday for a variety of different topics of interest. Friday lunch hour series are free and include:
- Wellness Friday at the Market is a series featuring self-care activities hosted by several different specialty Market’s vendors. Explore wellness focused programs such as a nutrition focused book club, herbal remedies and a sound bath session. No registration required.
- The Community Fitness series that is hosted at Riverscape MetroPark in the spring/summer moves indoors at the Market during the winter months. Community Fitness at the Market includes alternate Fridays of Yoga and Tai Chi & Qigong sessions. No registration required.
- Family Story Time is a series facilitated by FRMP educator specialists who read a fun, nature-based story for children to learn about the outdoors followed by a craft activity. Registration is required.
- The market vendor hosted Coffee Talk series shares with you their knowledge on various topics related to the roasting, crafting and enjoyment of coffee. No registration required.
- Like Coffee Talk, the Teatime series is all about tea. Including the growing, harvesting and foraging of herbs, and how they can be used for making tea blends for both enjoyment and wellness. No registration required.
- Ask the Gardener is a series facilitated by FRMP educator Betty Hovel. Betty shares her knowledge of horticulture, highlighting both indoor and outdoor gardening tips depending on the season. Registration is required.
Annual CSA Fair – Virtual & In Person Dates
This January, the Market’s farmers are especially excited for the annual CSA Fair. Community supported agriculture (CSA) is a way for individuals to support local farms directly through a subscription with the farm. Participants receive a scheduled box of produce throughout the growing season, allowing consumers to get the freshest food available thus sustaining the farmer’s future seasonal efforts, all while helping the environment.
Farmers participating in CSA subscriptions this year include:
The Market’s CSA Fair offers both virtual (Thursday, Jan. 23) and in-person (Sunday, Jan. 26) in the Market’s east pavilion. While both options are free, space is limited for the Virtual CSA Fair, it requires registration.
