Location:
  • Registered Name: Eclipse
  • Breed: Hackney Pony

  • Gender: Gelding
  • Year of Birth: 2003
  • Height: 10.3 hands

I came to MetroParks with my brother, Legacy. I am friends with my pasture buddy Oreo. During the weekends I help out by giving pony rides. Kids love me! To be considered a pony a horse must be under 14.2 hands. At first glance one might think a pony is simply a young horse, however ponies mature at smaller heights making them a perfect candidate for children, cart pulling or trick ponies.

My Dartmoor line is recognized by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust as a vulnerable breed. Their numbers dropped from almost 26,000 in the 1930’s to only about 5,000 today.

I was born with a darker base coat color with some spots and then as I’ve grown older, the white hairs have increased over my body making me look lighter.
