2022 City of Dayton Lights in Flight Fireworks: What to Expect

Sunday, July 3 2022 will be the City of Dayton’s Lights in Flight Fireworks Festival and Display at RiverScape MetroPark. The fireworks display is planned for 10 PM, following a street festival that begins at 5 PM. The festival features food and beverage vendors, live entertainment and activities for family fun. Admission is free.

With this comes extensive road closures in the general area of the festival downtown. These are just the closures Five Rivers MetroParks is aware of, and the City of Dayton may be planning for more.

8 AM

  • North Bend/Deeds from Webster to Helena will be closed. This will include the bike path, Deeds Point, and the Pedestrian Bridge

10 AM

  • Streets around RiverScape will close (see maps) and festival setup will begin.

5 PM

  • Festival is from 5 to 10 PM, with fireworks from 10 to 10:25 PM.
  • Helena from Keowee to Riverside will be closed.
  • Dayton Police is planning on putting “Local Traffic Only “ signs up throughout this closure.
  • Island MetroPark is open for shelter reservations until 4pm.
  • Vehicle access to Island MetroPark will be closed, but those currently in will have until 8pm (park closing) to leave.

8 PM

  • Great Miami River to close from the downstream edge of Helena Bridge to the upstream edge of the Interstate 75 bridge starting at approximately 8 PM and will not reopen until fireworks are complete.
  • Mad River will not need to close this year.

Approx. 2 AM, July 4

  • All closures will be opened after cleanup.
