Getting fit outdoors stimulates your body and your mind. At Five Rivers MetroParks, many of our programs and facilities are specifically designed specifically to improve the health of people in the Miami Valley. Your MetroParks are free to use — so come out and start building your healthy lifestyle.

RiverScape sits at the center of a network of more than 340 miles of paved trails, perfect for running, walking or inline skating. These trails with sweeping views of the Great Miami River are used by numerous community groups for 5K runs and walks.

Fitness in the Park begins in the summer and runs through August. These free fitness classes are offered most Saturdays May-August from 10-11 AM, and vary between yoga and Zumba. Please check the RiverScape MetroPark Facebook page for additional updates.

Sugarcreek MetroPark Green Trail

Popular with trail runners, the 5K green trail loop at Sugarcreek provides fitness buffs a nature-filled experience for their workout. The trail travels up hills through wooded ravines, along the creek and next to 500-year-old oak trees.

Mad River Bikeway at Eastwood MetroPark

The Mad River Bikeway winds through the trees and the prairie of Eastwood MetroPark, tracing along the lagoon and river in sections. This in-park section offers extended mileage for inline skating, running the length of the mile-long park. Skate east or west from any parking lot in the park, starting on the south side of the Mad River.

Great Miami River Trail at Taylorsville MetroPark

The Great Miami River Trail makes its way through Taylorsville just to the west of the dam. It is paved and easy to maneuver for walkers, runners or cyclists. Running groups often meet here for runs because of the ample parking. Running, walking or skating north offers a trip along the historic Miami-Erie Canal, with shaded woodland views giving way to vistas of the Great Miami River.

The Deed's Point Green

At the center of Deed’s Point MetroPark sits a large grassy circle perfect for sunrise salutations. With a great skyline view, this best-kept secret is easily accessible by bike or foot on the Great Miami River Trail, or by car from Webster Street.

Germantown Trails

Germantown offers a great variety of trails for the trail runner. Enjoy the lush forest and spectacular fall colors and keep an eye out for plants and animals that you won’t see anywhere else in Montgomery County. Hit the orange trail for a nearly 8-mile loop with plenty of variety and challenge. The shorter 1.3-mile green trail is the perfect mix of smooth and technical.

Englewood Trails

Englewood’s green trail is the park’s longest, at 3.8 miles. It travels by amazing natural scenery such as Martindale, Patty and Oak waterfalls, the Pumpkin Ash and Swamp Forests, as well as the Stillwater River. Other trails in the park can be combined with the green trail for a total of 9.5 miles.

Eastwood Prairie Meadow Trail Loop

Discover a variety of natural areas while walking or running this 3-mile, gentle-terrain, loop trail. Beautiful waterway, woodlands and eight acres of prairie provide abundant bird watching and wildlife viewing opportunities. This path is used during the annual Midwest Outdoor Experience for the 12-hour endurance race.

Fitness Opportunities Exist in these MetroParks

Five Rivers MetroParks has more than 150 miles of paved and natural surface trails for fitness activities. The following parks offer some of the best locations to get or stay healthy:

Six paved trails pass through Montgomery County, and all of them are partially or completely managed by MetroParks. Outside of Montgomery County the Miami Valley Trail system continues with a variety of other trails.

3rd Party Fitness Activities

If you are a fitness instructor or group who would like to host a guided or instructional fitness activity in a MetroPark, a permit is required.
