Historical Farm
Carriage Hill was originally settled in 1830 by the Daniel Arnold Family. Come visit
our 1880s Historical Farm that depicts life on a conservative family farm of the period.
Daily demonstrations and tours are provided. Buildings include a blacksmith shop,
woodshop, historic house, and bank barn. Historic breeds of farm animals also bring
the past to life. In addition to this, stop by the Visitor Center for exhibits highlighting
lifestyles of a century ago, a Children’s Interactive Center, and the Country Store
Gift Shop. Also, stop by the Carriage Hill Gallery for rotating photographic and
art displays.
Horseback Riding Center
Horse back riding enthusiasts can enjoy over 6 miles of trails at
the recently upgraded and refurbished Carriage Hill MetroPark Riding Center. Weekend trail rides are offered Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM, June to November. Pony Rides are also available for youngsters. For information and reservations call the Riding Center at 937-274-3120 or visit the Riding Center web page >>
Daily Farm Activities
Daily farm activities occur almost 365 days a year on our historic farm. Take part and learn about anything from daily farm chores to baking bread or quilting.
Period dressed volunteers help make your experience even more enjoyable while they teach you all about farm life in the 1880's.
View our calendar of daily farm activities.
Camping
Groups, families, or individuals can reserve a campsite in a number of MetroParks. Most sites are primitive (pit toilet, fire ring, picnic table) and some are designed for large groups. Bring gear, food and water. Due to the threat of the emerald ash borer, do not bring firewood to any MetroPark facility. A limited supply of firewood is provided. Permits are required to camp at any of the available sites and must be obtained a week in advance. To reserve a free campsite, call (937) 277-4374 between 9am-4pm Monday-Friday.
