Is there a cost for the event?
Admission and parking are free, but the success of this annual event depends on sponsorships and contributions from patrons. The suggested donation for this action-packed weekend is $5. If you feel inclined, pay on your way in, during the event, or on your way out! Your contributions will help us maintain the high quality experience you expect and allow the event to become a regional destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

How can I volunteer and help at this fabulous event?
To volunteer, contact Bambi Shafer at Bambi.Shafer@MetroParks.org or at 937-275-5006. Gifts and thanks abound if you volunteer!

Do I have to attend one of the Volunteer Orientation sessions in order to help out?
Short answer, no. The orientation session is not mandatory for volunteers, but highly encouraged since trainings will take place on-site this year. If you would like to register to attend, please visit the Get Involved  section for dates and times.

What are the Directions?
Visit our directions page to learn how you can travel to Midwest Outdoor Experience by car, boat, bike or plane.

How long will it take me to get there?  Because I'm definitely coming...and I'm calling a friend to invite them!

Is parking available?

Watch for signs near the end of the park road. Thanks to Subaru a special VIP parking area is also available to Subaru owners near the main entrance to Midwest Outdoor Experience.

Is there Food at the Event?

Vendors will be on site serving up locally crafted, tasty foods.


Is there food near the Event? 

Dozens of restaurants are located within a couple miles of the event.


Do I have to come for the whole day?

No, drop in when it is convenient.  Warning: the more time you spend at Midwest Outdoor Experience the more you will be inspired to Get Out & Live!


Do I need to Register?

Everything is first come, first serve. However, for some competitions, pre-registration is recommended.


Is there a map of Midwest Outdoor Experience?

View the 2012 Event Map Here. The entire event takes place on the Park Side of Eastwood MetroPark.  Follow directional signage after entering the park.   Note there are two sides to Eastwood MetroPark, Lake Side and Park Side.  They are not connected and you will need to go back to Harshman Rd. in order to access the other side of the park.


What is your pet policy?

Our furry friends are welcome, but must be leashed and under control at all times. New this year is the Subaru Pooch Island Dog Park, where your furry friend can play nice with others and stretch their legs off-leash. If any pet puts park visitors at risk, the event staff reserves the right to ask the owner to remove the pet from Midwest Outdoor Experience.


USED GEAR AREA

How do I sell my own stuff?

  • 1-3 items
    If you have 3 items or less you can register them at the Used Gear Area and drop them off.  We will provide you space and try to sell you stuff for you while you enjoy the event.  Stop by whenever you want to collect your unsold items.
  • 4 or more items
    We will register you and provide you a space to sell your stuff. You will be required to stay with your products.


Is there an easy place to load/unload?

Yes, we have a loading zone within yards of the used gear area.


What is acceptable to sell?

Anything that you might find at an outdoor specialty retailer (bike shop, backpacking shop, paddling shop, etc.) is acceptable.  No hunting equipment please.


KAYAKING/CANOEING

  • Do I need to sign a risk/release form?
    Yes, sign the form at the registration/information tent near the Gateway to Midwest Outdoor Experience.
  • What should I wear to Kayak/Canoe?
    We encourage you to wear clothing that can get wet and closed toed shoes.
  • How do I sign up?
    At the registration booth you can sign up first come first serve for a kayak/canoe .  You will then walk to the Try Kayaking Area and/or Try Canoeing Area


DISC GOLF

  • Do I need to sign a risk/release form?
    No, stop by the Waterfall disc golf booth and then begin play.
  • Do I need to bring a disc?
    Bring your own or you can borrow one to play the 9 hole course at no cost.


CLIMBING WALL

  • Do I need to sign a risk/release form?
    Yes, sign the form at the registration/information tent near the Gateway to Midwest Outdoor Experience and then head over to the climbing wall to get in line and get harnessed up.
  • Is there an age or size limit?
    The climbing wall can handle almost all ages and sizes down to toddlers.


YOUTH ADVENTURE ZONE

  • Do I need to sign a risk/release form?
    Yes,  sign the form at the registration/information tent near the Gateway to Midwest Outdoor Experience and then head over to enjoy a variety of youth outdoor related activities.
  • Is there an age or size limit?
    All ages are welcome to enjoy the Youth Adventure Zone.
