Trail Maps
The Twin Valley Trail combines the existing network of trails in Germantown and Twin Creek MetroParks with a connection to create a longer, more integrated trail system.
The three main components of the trail include:

Total mileage for the trail is over 22 miles (to complete the trail and return to your starting point you would retrace the 7.3 mile connector for a 29 mile hike). View entire Trail Map

Set in the rolling hills of the Twin Valley, the TVT provides a backpacking experience reminiscent of wilderness trails with beautiful hills, babbling brooks, abundant wildlife, history and small town charm.

The Twin Valley Trail runs through almost every type of natural habitat imaginable - from young successional woods, mature old growth forests with towering trees to meadows, rare grassland prairies, wetlands and riparian forests. Along the trail are valleys, ravines and overlooks with breathtaking vistas and views. Some of the most diverse, abundant wildlife in southern Ohio inhabit the area. Rare, threatened and endangered species such as resident bobcat and bald eagles have been confirmed in the area since 2009.  You’ll also find common and spectacular birds, mammals and fish. Several ponds border the trail as well as Twin Creek which is rated the number one waterway in Ohio for bio-diversity and two in the state in water quality.

Camping Info
Secluded camping opportunities are available to backpackers at three locations along the trail system. Each location has three sites with each individual site large enough for two small backpacking tents. These are primitive backcountry style campsites that can support up to four to six hikers per site depending on the style of the tent. Each location also has an outhouse along with a common area for cooking and hanging out that support the three individual campsites.

  1. Cedar Ridge campsites
  2. Pine Ridge campsites
  3. Oak Ridge campsites

A backpacking permit is required for all overnight use of the backcountry. Permits for all overnight backcountry use must be obtained by calling 937-277-4374. More info on permitting.
Maximum stay per camp (Oak Ridge, Cedar Ridge, Pine Ridge) is two nights.
Backcountry campsites are limited to two small backpacking tents per site.

Other Camping Options
Anyone interested in frontcountry camping should call (937) 277-4374 between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays, or stop in the office at 224 N. St. Clair Street, Dayton, across from RiverScape MetroPark. Camping is available with a permit; frontcountry camping permits must be requested at least a week in advance.
