Get outside this winter and hike your way to a healthier lifestyle. This popular annual hiking series is offered Saturdays and Sundays, January through March. Participants completing 30 or more miles will receive a Health Hike emblem to add to their Health Hike stick. These hikes move at a brisk pace and are not recommended for those that prefer a more leisurely-paced hike. Terrain varies from site to site and some is rugged. Participants are encouraged to wear hiking boots, not tennis shoes. Brochures are available at each Health Hike that include the schedule, self-guided trail options and a chart for keeping track of mileage. All Health Hikes start at 2:00 p.m. and will range from 2 to 5 miles. Call 278-2623, Monday through Friday for more information.

Drive Less, Live More
This multi-event campaign encourages drivers to try alternative transportation in May and June. The Drive Less, Live More campaign is an initiative of the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority, Miami Conservancy District, Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission and Five Rivers MetroParks. National Bike to Work Day Pancake Breakfast
Join Five Rivers Outdoors and the area's cycling community for the annual celebration of National Bike to Work Day. Take some time to refuel yourself, save some gas and join the cycling community by biking to the Market. Enjoy a free breakfast and music by Dan Rivers as well as T-shirts for the first 200 participants
Cycling Adventure Teen Camp
Get a taste of cycling and mountain biking at this day camp with Five Rivers Outdoors. Participants learn about basic maintenance, safety equipment and riding skills, and get a chance to peddle on the beautiful Creekside Recreation Trail.
Walking and Running at the 2nd Street Market
Are you looking for a new trail or route to enjoy this year? Join Five Rivers Outdoors staff at the 2nd Street Market to learn about the various opportunities in the region for running and walking. Discover wooded and recreation trails in MetroParks, local clubs and retailers, and much more.
Day Hiking in the Appalachians
Explore the Shenandoah Valley during four days of day hikes that will take you to mountain tops, gorgeous valleys and spectacular waterfalls. Glimpses of Civil War history add interest along the way. Hike the famous Appalachian Trail along with other area trails. Soak in the mountains as you enjoy scenic drives while in transit between hiking locations.
Another Dam 50K
This is a 50K (31-mile) race, consisting of four loops of the 7.9 mile course. Sponsored by the Ohio River Road Runners Club (ORRRC). Complete information, including the route, can be found at www.fmfhome.com/ad50K or call Frank Fenton at (937) 684-4117.
