With a lot of determination and the ability to endure hardships in every way, Charlie has moved from a life of drugs and alcohol to a life of understanding and learning to live with himself. After many years of sobriety, he has become a top athlete, spokesperson and philanthropist.

Andrew Skurka is an accomplished 28-year-old professional backpacker who is most well-known for his two monumental long-distance hiking firsts -– the 6,875-mile Great Western Loop and the 7,778-mile Sea-to-Sea Route. He was named the 2007 “Adventurer of the Year” by National Geographic Adventure and the 2005 “Person of the Year” by Backpacker Magazine.

Jon works hard and plays even harder. He recently led Backpacker to its first-ever National Magazine Award and the Outdoor Industry Association's highest honor, the Ambassador Award. Last year, he captained a media team at Primal Quest, the first to finish an expedition-length adventure race. He's also trained with Al Gore as an official presenter of the Inconvenient Truth, and served for three years as president of the board of Big City Mountaineers. Now living in Boulder, Jon is looking forward to lunch runs in the Flatirons and weekends in the Rockies.
