Back to presentation schedule
This program will discuss the abundance of whitewater and paddlesports recreation in the region. The Mid-Atlantic offers the most diverse whitewater paddling in the country, and is within close proximity to many major metropolitan areas. However the image of whitewater boating often plays to the extreme side of the sport leaving many thinking that it is not for them. We will show how the creation of man-made whitewater parks both in natural rivers, and those completely man-made are bringing the whitewater to the people, by allowing them to learn in a completely safe and controlled environment. By making people interested in outdoor recreation and instilling a love of outdoor sports and activities we then create a culture of individuals with a vested interest.
