Back to presentation schedule

A few years ago The New York Times Travel Section referred to Southern Utah’s Red Rock Wilderness as the “American Outback“. For three consecutive Septembers, this flatlander (native Ohioan) has been invited to backpack with a group of experienced desert rats into the American Outback. This presentation is not about the paved roads and beautiful vistas found in Utah's National Parks, instead, it is an intimate journey (by foot) into canyons never seen by tourists. Utah’s Red Rock Wilderness has had a profound impact on this 'baby boomer's' life. We are never too old to Get Out and Live!

Beverly Garrett is a native Daytonian who has discovered her connection to Utah’s Red Rock Wilderness. Experienced educator, photographer, and reborn environmental activist, she is excited to share her experiences with anyone who has even the remotest interest in self discovery and protecting our mother.
