At the regular meeting of the Board of Park Commissioners of Five Rivers MetroParks held on April 21, 2005, the Board of Park Commissioners adopted the Code of Rules and Regulations of Five Rivers MetroParks, which is a codification of existing park rules and regulations supplemented by state law. The abbreviated list and language above contains a sample of these rules and regulations and is not to be construed as a complete list of said rules and regulations. Abbreviated Rules & Regulations


To insure your safety and enjoyment and that of other park visitors, and for the safety and protection of MetroParks facilities, follow these rules:
  • Do not bring firewood to any MetroPark facility because of the Emerald Ash Borer infestation
  • Removal of property prohibited
  • Pets (where permitted) must be on a leash that is no longer than 8 feet
  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited without permit
  • Motorized vehicles allowed on roads and parking lots only
  • Solicitation prohibited
  • Music must remain at a low volume so as to not disturb others
  • Fires in grills and designated areas only
  • Dangerous weapons prohibited without authorization
  • Release of animals prohibited
  • Do not approach or disturb any wildlife you may encounter
  • Do not litter

Fossils
Collecting a limited number of fossils by the general public is permitted with restrictions. See the Fossil Collecting Policy.

Geo-caching Policy
Geo-caching is an activity utilizing GPS units to locate hidden treasures. See the Geo-caching Policy.

Photo & Video Policy
Five Rivers MetroParks may occasionally take photos or video of park visitors for use in publications or other promotional material. Professional photographers and organizations must obtain permission from MetroParks' Marketing Department prior to taking photos or video in the parks.

Aullwood Garden MetroPark Rules


  • Dogs are not permitted
  • No picking of flowers or removal of seeds, plants or roots
  • No bicycle riding in garden area



  • Carriage Hill MetroPark Rules


  • Do not pick, collect or disturb plant or animal materials of any kind
  • Do not pet or feed the farm livestock
  • Hunting, frog gigging and swimming are not permitted
  • Hikers and horseback riders must remain on their designated trails



  • Cox Arboretum MetroPark Rules


  • Do not feed the wildlife or remove any wildlife from the Arboretum
  • Do not pick flowers, fruit, vegetables or seeds
  • Do not stand or walk in the garden beds
  • No pets are permitted



  • Eastwood MetroPark Rules


  • Dogs allowed on leash only; leashes may be no longer than eight feet
  • Swimming and wading are not permitted



  • Englewood MetroPark Rules


  • Dogs allowed on leash only; leashes may be no longer than eight feet
  • Bicycles are permitted on marked bike path or bike lane only



  • Germantown MetroPark Rules


  • Dogs allowed on leash only; leashes may be no longer than eight feet
  • Bicycles are not permitted on trails



  • Huffman MetroPark Rules


  • Dogs allowed on leash only; leashes may be no longer than eight feet



  • Possum Creek MetroPark Rules


  • Dogs allowed on leash only; leashes may be no longer than eight feet
  • Pets are not permitted at the farm
  • Bicycles are not permitted on trails



  • RiverScape MetroPark Rules


    • DO play in RiverScape’s Interactive Fountain, but please DON'T let your dog.
    • DO ride the bikeway with your bicycle, roller blades or skateboard and DO remember to yield to slower moving users and DO remember to walk it inside the park. DON'T forget to pass other users on the left. Bicycle stands are available on the backside of the two pavilions inside the park. DO remember to bring your own lock.
    • DO clean up after your dog. Doggie Mutt Mitts are available free of charge from the dispenser on RiverScape’s Festival Plaza or at the Flying Dog Food Pavilion. DO remember to get an Iams Dog Biscuit from the Flying Dog Food Pavilion.
    • DO come prepared to enjoy yourself, and DO leave your alcoholic beverages at home.
    • DO leave your dog at home if you are coming to one of RiverScape’s large events or if you plan to ride the pedal boats at Ride the River Rentals.
    • DO enjoy the reflecting pools and DO remember they are not for wading.
    • DO bring a fishing pole to fish in the Great Miami River, and DO remember to bring your State of Ohio Fishing License.
    • DO bring a picnic lunch or dinner, and DO remember no open flames or barbeque grills are permitted within the park.
    • DO call 911 in an emergency or our law enforcement division the Five Rivers MetroParks’ Rangers at (937) 225-HELP.
    • DO call Five River MetroParks’ Urban Programming Department at (937) 274-0126 if you are interested in selling anything within the Park or at one of our events as we DON'T permit any solicitation within RiverScape or at any of our events without a permit.
    • DO your part to keep RiverScape clean.


    Sugarcreek MetroPark Rules


  • Dogs allowed on leash only; leashes may be no longer than 8 feet
  • Pet droppings must be removed from trails
  • Bicycles are not permitted on trails



  • Taylorsville MetroPark Rules


  • Dogs allowed on leash only; leashes may be no longer than 8 feet
  • Bicycles are not permitted on trails



  • Twin Creek MetroPark Rules


  • Dogs allowed on leash only; leashes may be no longer than 8 feet



  • Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark Rules

  • Reservable Picnic Shelters & Facilities


    Escape hectic city life and relax with friends or family at a MetroParks reservable picnic site at Englewood, Germantown, Hills and Dales, Island, Possum Creek, Taylorsville or Wesleyan MetroParks. Sites are located in beautiful, natural settings and come complete with a picnic shelter, tables, grills and mowed play areas. Most shelters accommodate 35 people, several are much larger. All are ranger patrolled, quiet and designed to offer a degree of privacy. By making advanced reservations, your group will be guaranteed use of the site - and it's free!


    Reserve a Shelter Today


    To ensure your group's use of a reservable picnic site on the date you want, make reservations now for this calendar year by calling (937)-275-PARK. Reservable picnic sites are available daily (except Christmas and New Year's Day) during park hours. Reservations must be made a minimum of one week in advance. A $50 deposit is required; only cash or checks are accepted. The deposit will be refunded if the area is left in good order or cancellations are made at least two weeks in advance. Alcoholic beverages are allowed only at designated reservable sites. Due to the threat of the emerald ash borer , do not bring firewood to any MetroPark facility.


     
    Your Choice of Sites


    • Englewood MetroPark offers three reservable shelters and sports equipment. Two shelters are in the west park, off the 100 E. National Road entrance. The other shelter is in the east park. Use the entrance at 4361 National Road.

    • Germantown MetroPark has three sites located in a scenic meadow with woodlands nearby. Hiking trails and the Nature Center can be easily reached from the sites. Use the entrance at 6910 Boomershine Road and follow the signs to the reservable area. Alcoholic beverages are allowed at the reservable sites.

    • Hills & Dales MetroPark has two sites. The Twin Oak shelter seats 50 and the Paw Paw shelter seats 100. Twin Oak shelter is on Patterson Boulevard, just north of the Patterson monument. Paw Paw shelter is on Deep Hollow Road.

    • Island MetroPark has four reservable shelters. Accommodations will be provided per approved shelter agreement. Patrons need to be reminded that vehicles are not allowed inside the park. Loading/unloading must occur in the parking lot. No shelters are equipped with interior lighting. Call 937-275-PARK for more info.

    • Possum Creek MetroPark offers two sites with woods and a tallgrass prairie nearby. Fishing ponds and a hiking trail are within easy walking distance. Each shelter accommodates 120 people. Use the reservable area entrance at 4730 Frytown Road. Alcoholic beverages are allowed at the reservable sites.

    • Taylorsville MetroPark has six reservable sites in the scenic Great Miami River valley. Use the reservable area entrance at 8400 Brown School Road to access three of the reservable shelters. One of these shelters holds 120 people. Use the entrance at 2000 U.S. 40 near the Taylorsville Dam to access two of the shelters. The other reservable shelter is the CCC Shelter at 2101 U.S. 40. Alcoholic beverages are allowed at the reservable sites.

    • Wesleyan MetroPark has one reservable picnic shelter.



    Non-Reservable Picnic Sites

    In addition to reservable picnic sites, non-reservable picnic shelters are available at most MetroParks facilities. For locations, call (937) 275-PARK.

     

    Reservable Campsites

    Frontcountry Camping
    Five Rivers MetroParks welcomes groups, families, or individuals to explore your wild side with camping in many of the parks. Camping is a great way to experience nature at dusk, dawn and even after dark. To reserve a free campsite at least one week in advance, call (937) 277-4374 between 9am-4pm Monday-Friday. Secluded backcountry campsites are offered on the Twin Valley Backpacking Trail.

    Parks with Frontcountry Camping
    Groups, families, or individuals can reserve a campsite in a number of MetroParks. Most sites are primitive (pit toilet, fire ring, picnic table). Bring gear, food and water. Due to the threat of the emerald ash borer, do not bring firewood to any MetroPark facility, a limited supply of firewood is provided. Permits are required, to reserve a free campsite at least one week in advance, call (937) 277-4374 between 9am-4pm Monday-Friday.

    16 Different camp areas are available throughout 7 MetroParks. Each campsite is unique and provides a different experience.  Feel free to call the outdoor recreation office at (937) 277-4374 for advice on the best sites for large groups, an intimate family getaway, or proximity to park amenities. Parks with camping include Carriage Hill, Englewood, Germantown, Possum Creek, Sugarcreek, Taylorsville and Twin Creek.

    • Ice Skating Rink available to rent Sunday evenings and Thursday evenings for $200 during winter months. Call (937) 274-0126.

    • Although no other part of the park is reservable or rentable, there have been many proposals at the park as well as many weddings. Please call our Administrative offices for more information on how we can help you with your special day at 937-274-0126.
    Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark


    • Although no other part of the park is rentable, there have been many proposals at the park as well as many weddings. Weddings can be scheduled in the formal gardens. Call (937) 277-6545 for information and a brochure.
