Reservable Shelters

Based on a review of current operational procedures and public use along with the high demand for reservable shelters, a few updates to our reservable shelter process have been made:

  • You may now reserve shelters up to a year in advance rather than restricting reservations to the current calendar year.
  • Deposits for shelter reservations are now eliminated due to the administrative overhead and costs associated with processing. Five Rivers MetroParks will conduct additional operational analysis of its shelter reservation services, which may include implementing a fee structure for reservable shelter use.
  • Shelter reservations are limited to one reservation per month per organization and/or household.
  • The time period for a shelter reservation is 10:00 AM to park closing in all parks.

Call the main office at (937)-275-PARK (7275) for questions regarding these policy changes.

Escape hectic city life and relax with friends or family at a reservable picnic site at Englewood, Germantown, Hills and Dales, Island, ReservationsPossum Creek, Taylorsville or Wesleyan MetroParks. Sites are located in beautiful, natural settings and come complete with a picnic shelter, tables, grills and mowed play areas. Most shelters accommodate 35 people, several are much larger. All are ranger patrolled, quiet and designed to offer a degree of privacy. By making advanced reservations, your group will be guaranteed use of the site.

To ensure your group's use of a reservable picnic site on the date you want, make reservations now by calling (937)-275-PARK (7275) or stop by the main office during business hours at 409 E. Monument Ave., Third Floor
Dayton, OH 45402.
Reservable picnic sites are available daily (except Christmas and New Year's Day) during park hours. Reservations must be made a minimum of one week in advance. Alcoholic beverages are allowed only at designated reservable sites. Due to the threat of the emerald ash borer, do not bring firewood to any MetroPark facility.

Non-reservable shelters, as well as picnic tables, are available to the public at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
