The programming at Hills & Dales offers a variety of opportunities for people of
all ages to rekindle their experiences with nature.
Nature hikes covering a variety of topics are offered throughout the year, including
bird walks, wildflower walks, tree identification hikes, night hikes, and owl prowls.
Parent & Preschool Programs give a place where kids 3-5 years old and their caregivers
can meet and play games, build crafts, sing songs, and explore nature together.
Whether pretending to be raccoons, using nature to teach colors, or learning how
to safely explore your own backyard, these programs redefine ‘quality time’ with
your preschooler. These programs are offered monthly April-October.
Seasonal Strolls for Adults offer a time for escaping from that asphalt coated schedule
we call life. Participants meet new friends, discuss points of interests, and explore
nature together. These strolls take place the first and third Friday mornings April-October,
starting at various locations throughout the park.

All of us at Five Rivers MetroParks appreciate your patience and support
as we restore this wonderful park to its historic grandeur and add amenities
to enhance its role as a magnificent respite for your daily enjoyment.
White Oak Camp
- new and improved walking paths and modern restrooms
- playground and new facilities such as picnic shelters
- information stations designed in the Adirondack-style of the original park
Dogwood Camp
- reconstructed historic pond & brook
- trail loop around the pond built as a mid-point feature off the main trail through the park
- Adirondack-style shelter constructed to overlook pond
Paw Paw Camp
- improved reservable picnic area and major trailhead with parking
- replacement of the existing shelter with a similar shelter of the Adirondack style
- modern restrooms and lighting
- wetlands preservation and boardwalk creations
"The woods within Hills & Dales MetroPark is an outstanding example of Ohio natural forest,
for both its age and quality," says Dave Nolin, MetroParks' Director of Conservation. "The Chinese
Honeysuckle has really taken over though. If we can get in there and eradicate it, the woodland
floor will come back to life." The master plan for Hills & Dales MetroPark serves as not only a
project plan, but as a guide for development and stewardship of the park for current and future
generations.
