Cycling Sells Cities
Thank you for participating in the 2011 Miami Valley Cycling Summit!
The 2011 MVCS brought together over 300 cycling enthusiasts representing 12 cities, 40 area organization and hundreds of cycling supporters. We have heard that at least two local cities will be applying to become recognized as a bicycle friendly city through the League of American Bicyclists and Springfield announced that they will hosting the summit in 2013. Thank you Springfield!
Other highlights from the 2011 Miami Valley Cycling Summit:
- Bike Miami Valley, the local grassroots organization received support and direction from the community and has launched their new website, www.bikemiamivalley.com Please check out their site and take the survey.
- Bruno’s Keynote showed the region how cycling related infrastructure creates jobs, retains jobs, and encourages growth and economic vitality. Cycling does sell cities!
- Photos of the summit will be posted to the Facebook page, so stop by there and check it out http://www.facebook.com/cyclingsummit
- Session presentations sparked discussions about what is next for the Miami Valley in regards to cycling. More access spots, better connectivity of bikeways to neighborhoods, and driver education seem to be priorities, as well as getting more cities in the region designated as bicycle friendly
The 2013 Miami Valley Cycling Summit will be held May 31st in Springfield. Save the date!
