The information below is for those individuals who currently have an official MetroParks geocaching permit. Learn how to obtain a permit fpr placing caches.
MAINTAINING YOUR GEOCACHE
The maintenance form is for those individuals who currently have an official MetroParks geocaching permit to communicate the status of the cache to staff on a seasonal basis. Once you receive a permit you will be oriented to the full process.
- Expectations
Five Rivers MetroParks expects all geocaches to be maintained as family friendly and remain as described when originally permitted.
- Issues
Social trails and other changes can develop that can make it necessary to move the cache.
- Regular Checks
Please help us manage our geocaching program by filling out the online form at least every 4 months (3 times per year preferably when the seasons change) or when you receive 4 “Did Not Finds” (DNF) which is a signal that something may have happened to your geocache.
- Non-Owners
Other cachers may also fill out this form to report the status of a cache even if they are not the owner of that cache or e-mail outdoors@metroparks.org
- Thanks
Thank you for helping make geocaching in Five Rivers MetroParks a successful and fun way for people to Get Out & Live!
VOLUNTEER
If you are interested in volunteering to check the caches in a particular park contact us at outdoors@metroparks.org.
Park Permitted Areas
Each park has a pre-determined area where geocaching is permitted. Check the online maps to see in general where you can apply to place a cache.
In general gardens and developed areas are not in the permitted area.
Permitted areas generally exist out of the floodplain along the hiking trails.
Each application is submitted to the park manager for final approval. |
