Gardening is an easy way to live more sustainable and community gardening is a great way to grow your own food – and new friendships.
Community gardens are created for many reasons. Some gardens are organized to meet the produce needs of individual gardeners. Others grow gardens for donation to tackle issues of food insecurity. Some gardens are created to beautify a neighborhood, to educate, or to simply bring people together. Many gardens fill many of those roles all at once. Community Gardens are managed by groups of individuals in the community, and each garden may have a unique leadership structure. Program Support
Five Rivers MetroParks Supports Community Gardening initiatives through providing seeds and seedlings (as available) and consulting on the design and details of community garden development and longevity. We also provide educational programming to those who request it, as available.

We are always looking for people to join existing community gardens or start new ones. If you would like to get involved in your neighborhood, call (937) 276-7053. Volunteer
You can help us grow too! We always have needs for individuals and groups to support the gardens, events and programs. There are lots of different ways you could be helpful! If you are interested in volunteering, contact the Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark volunteer manager at (937) 276-7055.
