Tama will share the story of joining an Explorers Club trip to Parashant National Monument. The group packed in their climbing and caving gear as well as scientific equipment. The group spent days surveying the caves and making an inventory of the cave life.

Tama has been horizontal and vertical caving for ten years. She got her start on the Wild Cave Tour at Mammoth Cave, making up for time she dove headfirst into caving, quickly adding vertical caving and surveying to her skills. She attended several weeklong National Cave Rescue Commission (NCRC) training sessions. In 2003 she and her husband were invited to a weeklong underground expedition in Lechuguilla Cave, New Mexico. In 2004 she dropped a Golindrinas, a 1,200 foot pit in Mexico with her daughter and husband. Tama contributes time and energy to cave conservation. She is a member of the National Speleological Society and vice chairmen of a local chapter, the Dayton Underground Grotto. She enjoys introducing new people to both vertical and horizontal caving and has guided trip for the WSU Outdoor Resource Center.
