Gudrun and Peter, in retirement, hiked the length of the Alps, from Nice (France) to Vienna (Austria). They covered their 1300 mile trek in six segments (each about one month long) every year in early summer. The hike became one of the greatest projects of their lives. Besides the physical challenges, there were many others they contended with, including: judging trails and weather, language skills, learning history and culture, etc. The Seiferts love to share their excitement and motivate non-hikers and pros alike, to hike more - for the benefit of "Body, Mind, and Soul". Knowing the hiking infrastructure in the Alps may also give ideas for hiking development in this country. Their lively story is supported by maps and photos. They presented a similar program at the 2008 Adventure Summit, before a packed class room.

Seiferts immigrated into the USA in 1964 from Germany and Switzerland. They worked in Middletown starting in 1967. Peter was an engineer and Gudrun was a teacher. They are now retired and still live in Middletown. More detail may be found on the website.
