The Toyota revved its engine as the driver reached down for a lower gear, spinning its wheels in the muck and slime that passed for a road.  Suddenly the sky was filled with arrows and spears shot or thrown out of the lush vegetation on the sides of the road.  As we all ducked in the back of the open truck, we wondered what we had gotten ourselves into in this remote area of Papua New Guinea.  Meet veteran caver Jim Pisarowicz and discover the answer to this and other questions about the Mount Kaijende Caving Expedition

Jim Pisarowicz is a veteran caver with over 5000 caves and 50 years of caving under his caving helmet.  He is a fellow of the National Speleological Society and The Explorers Club.  In 1990 he received the Lew Bicking Award, the highest award for exploration given by the National Speleological Society.  Pisarowicz is a former ranger with the National Park Service and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and currently teaches psychology at Sinclair Community College.
