Presentation:  Medical Preparedness for the Zombie Apocalypse
Back to presentation schedule

Dr. Pickett will discuss principles of medical care in the austere environment in preparation for any event in which local medical resources are overwhelmed.  Wilderness medicine skills may be critical when the medical care delivery system is significantly impacted by natural or man-made disaster.  With a shotgun, chainsaw, hatchet, and a little bit of medical preplanning, you can be well prepared for zombies, vampires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornados, or terrorism.

Dr. Pickett is an emergency physician at the Miami Valley Hospital and Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Wright State University.  He is a veteran of two deployments to Iraq.  He serves as medical director for Xenia Fire Division, Fairborn Fire Department, assistant medical director for Dayton Fire Department, and is active with several local police SWAT teams.
