So you want ADVENTURE in your life? Then Get Out and Live, in your “backyard”. Join us to learn more about how and where to enjoy hiking, cycling, and water trails as well as camping in the Miami Valley and YOUR Five Rivers MetroParks.

Erik got his start in outdoor recreation through camping trips with his family and high adventure programs in the Boy Scouts like canoeing along the French River in Canada. Later, while living in Southeastern Ohio, Erik was re-introduced to the vertical world of rock climbing. In between bouldering in Athens County and trips to the New and the Red, Erik discovered the joy of paddling rivers like the Yough, the Chattooga, the New, the Cheat, and of course tributaries of the mighty Hocking. Not to be forgotten are backpacking trips to Glacier, the Tetons, Cranberry Wilderness, and Dolly Sods. Mixed in here as well are caving trips with muddy belly crawls, tight rocky squeezes, and the cold fun of a sump, much of this underneath the rivers and rock faces where he had previously enjoyed sun filled adventure. Erik’s passion is for connecting people with nature whether it is in the middle of a river, from the edge of a cliff, seventy feet underground, or on a quiet stroll through one of our MetroParks.
